Job Description

Under general supervision, prepares for foreclosure and delinquent tax sales; types new deeds; receives and records writs to be served; calculates costs of service and bills agencies issuing writs; prepares and mails notices to jurors. Performs other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.

Completion of a high school equivalent education supplemented by coursework in secretarial science and bookkeeping, plus one (1) year of office experience, or equivalent combinations of training and/or experience. Must be bondable.

Description of Job Duty

The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.

Prepares for foreclosure and delinquent tax sales (e.g., schedules appraisals, types advertisement and posting copy, types legal descriptions of properties, etc.); receives payments for sales; types and disburses checks for payments received; prepares new deeds for sold properties; calculates costs of sales (e.g., appraisal fees, mileage, sheriff’s fees, deed fees, taxes, etc.); maintains records of all sales and files of deeds.

Receives and records writs to be served (from county, state or out of state); forwards writs to deputies to serve; calculates costs of service and bills issuing agencies.

Receives computer generated lists of potential jurors; verifies names and addresses; prepares and mails notices to jurors; responds to telephone inquiries from attorneys, banks and public.
